MURRAY KRIEGER

PROFILE

In 1928, I was born in Brooklyn, New York, met my wife Renee while in Junior High School, and graduated from The School of Industrial Arts, Manhattan, New York in 1945.   I spent 1946-1948 on a Light Cruiser in the U.S. Navy as a Machinist Mate 3rd Class while sailing on the Mediterranean out of Naples, Italy before being discharged in Boston, Massachusetts.  Then after 25 years being a native of New York, I came to Los Angeles, California on my son Steve’s birthday.

I worked as an auto mechanic and eventually had my own shops in Los Angeles from 1959 to my retirement in 2004.  My son Steve is now running the shop for the last 10 years on property I own next to the City of Beverly Hills, California.  I did it all back then, from tune ups to engine overhauls, brakes, clutches, repaired air conditioning, water pumps, generators, starters, transmissions and differentials, basically anything that made a car run.  I became a lifetime member of Braemar Country Club in 1976 and have golfed quite a lot.

During my lifetime, I wanted to see the world, so I did……  I will always have memories of both Chinas, Australia, Japan, Bangkok Thailand, Singapore, Viet Nam, Russia, Germany, England, Cape town South Africa, Algiers, Tangiers, Gibraltar, Greece, Cape Verde Island Lagos, Freetown, Monrovia, Dakar, Italy, Malta, Trieste, Izmir, Turkey, Marmaris, Beirut, Syria, France, Arzeu Algeria, Argentina, New Foundland, Dubai, UAE, Egypt, Muscat, Oman, Istanbul, Suez Canal and crossed the Equator.  I could say I played golf and cricket all over the world.  I’ve driven 600 miles in England and 300 miles in Switzerland.  I was on the U.S. ship that made sure the Europeans were allowed to go into Palestine to start Israel in 1946.

Currently playing Senior Softball as a player/manager in the Culver City Senior Softball Association and a player on the Southern California Jets in the Manhattan Beach Senior Softball Association.

I have done many, many things in my exciting life but the best thing I have accomplished is having 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
