JIM MORRISON

PROFILE

Jim (Jabber Mouth) Morrison….Born in 1947 in Long Beach, California  he was raised as a youngster in Gardena, California.   He graduated from Gardena High School and now lives in Hawthorne, California.  Through his working years, he was an Inspector, Test Technician at NCR, an auto mechanic, he then for Xerox started as a technician for Engineering Staff, a Senior Engineer then a System Analyst for the Network Group, and finally before retiring at EDS-HP a Senior Network Engineer.

 

Jim’s many interest include Auto Mechanics, Auto Racing, Baseball, Bowling, Electronics, Metal Working and of course Softball.   He began playing softball when he was 19 years old in a church fastpitch softball league, which led to company slowpitch softball for NCR, Xerox, and EDS-HP.  He ultimately tried out for the NCR Baseball team at age 24 and succeeded earning a relief pitching spot.  In 2006 he tried baseball again in Long Beach but had to stop after incurring an injury.  During that stint in 2008 his “All City” team won a Divisional Championship.. He has played in many recreation leagues with teams such as the Torrance Admiral Risty Whalers and Torrance Pirates, Westminster Cleanup Crew, and the LA Angels Co-Ed team of Huntington Beach.

 

Jim’s Senior Softball competition started when his neighbor Al Moenart found out he was 56 years old and he started playing with the Long Beach “Junkyard Dogs” in 2003.  The list of teams Jim has played for continued with the Long Beach Warriors, Long Beach Cardinals, Norwalk Jimmy’s Dukes II, Huntington Beach Rebels, Manhattan Beach Tab Tech, and the Long Beach and Huntington Beach SoCal Jets.
