2024 WEEK 27 HIGHLIGHTS PLAYOFFS

In the early Playoff Game 1 between the 3rd Place Jets and the 2nd Place BrokButcher teams it was a game that went back and forth with both teams hitting well. It came down to the bottom of the last inning which had BrokButcher behind 22-21. The Butchers hung tough and scored twice to win 23-22. A well played game by both teams. BrokButcher moves on to the Championship Playoff Game next Thursday. The Jets hit well, led by the 5 hits (HR, 3b and 2 Dbls) from Joe Owens, Dario Serna, Bob Julius (Dbl) both with 4 hits, Lincoln Chung, Mike Baker (Triple), Doug Bagley and Dana Goller all with 3 hits, Bryan White, Ward Brown (Double), Steve Kato (Double), Robert Hernandez, Andy Shelby, Karl Primm and Howard Rudich all with 2 hits each. No Report from BrokButcher.

In a day of excellent semi-finals, the Kettle took a tight one from top-seeded Admiral Risty in 10 innings. This one was nip and tuck the whole way. The Kettle pushed over the winning two runs in the top of the tenth, while Admiral Risty failed to convert with bases loaded in their final stanza. Three Kettle batsmen, Howard Thompson, Carlos Arias, and Warren Gallo drove in all nine runs for the winners. Defense was key to this game. Pitcher Ernie Rounsfel induced critical ground balls and fly balls in pressure situations, while smothering four hot shots through the box. Special kudos to sub catcher Ward Brown who got two hits and soldiered through exhaustion to put down the right fingers for his pitcher. This 2nd Playoff Game between the 4th Place Kettle and the 1st Place Admiral Risty Whalers was a well played defensive game by both teams. Neither team was overwhelming offensively and the Kettle upset the Risty by the score of 9-7. Two players had 3 hits for Risty Tony Luca and Mike Lorden, Gary Bemis, Alan Kiser, Richard Ecker, Howard Miller and Wayne Judah each had 2 hits in the game.
