2026 WEEK 9 THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS

The 1st game today saw Admiral Risty regain a share of 1st place with idle Butcher Construction. The Whalers played the Hangar Inn for a 24-5 win. Tony Luca 5 hits (4 rbi’s), Wayne Galer (3 rbi’s), Alan Kiser (3 rbi’s) and Mike Costa (HR 2 rbi’s) all had 4 hits. Mike Lorden (3 rbi’s), Rick Mansker (3 rbi’s), Adam Garcia, Jim Stevens (3 rbi’s) and Gary Bemis all with 3 hits. Rob Staal and Clay Collins added 2 hits each. Risty hammered 36 hits in the win. Hangar Inn was led by the hitting of Audie Freeman 4 hits, Kelly Kahl and Joe Rassulo both with 3 hits each, Brian Heffernan, Jeff Walsh, Ron Rotstein, Keith Sanchez and sub Joe Martelli all with 2 hits.

The short handed Kettle played the short handed Jets in the late game. Kettle gave up 3 runs to the Jets in the first inning but pitcher Ernie Rounsefell held the Jets to just 2 runs the rest of the way. After a slow start getting blanked in the first three innings, the Kettle bats woke up scoring 17 runs over the final 6 innings to secure the victory. Leading the way for the Kettle was Howard Thompson with 5 hits. Four hits each for Chuck Berez, Jon Chapman and Ernie Rounsefell. 3 hits each for Keith Crafton, Carlos Arias (in his first game of the season), Gary Frueholz and Hal Hamersmith. In this closely fought game, after 6 full innings the Kettle led the Jets 7-5. In the last 3 innings of play the Jets were unable to score any additional runs while the Kettle plated 3 – 1 – 6 runs in their last 3 innings for a final score Kettle 17-5. Andy Shelby led the Jets with 3 (double) hits, Mike Baker, Joe LaMay, Steve Kato, Doug Bagley and Howard Rudich (double) all had 2 hits in the game.
