The 1st game of the day saw the Kettle with a come from behind victory over Hangar Inn 21-18. The Kettle behind 7-16 in the 8th inning did a reversal of their last weeks game ending loss, by plating 14 runs while Hangar Inn could only post 2 more runs in their last inning. Hangar Inn appeared to have the game in hand before the explosion of Kettle runs in the last inning leaving them disappointed while the Kettle went home the happy winners. The Kettle after hitting into 3 double plays and having a runner thrown out at second from the outfield on a force play and another runner thrown out at home, the Kettle bats finally woke up and scored 14 runs to take a 5 run lead and held on in the bottom of the 9th for a win. Every batter in the lineup got a hit and scored in the big inning. Jon Chapman led the way going 6 for 6, while Howard Thompson, Doug Westhoff, Warren Galloway and Steve Kreindel all chipped in with 4 hits apiece. Despite the loss, Hangar Inn had plenty of offense from Brian Heffernan (triple) and Joe Rasullo with 5 hits each, Jeff Walsh, Audie Freeman and Ken Sackman added 3 hits each while Harold Kinsley, Seth Weiss, Ron Rotstein and Ken Widelitz all contributed 2 hits. Pitcher Kelly Kahl added a triple.
The 2nd game today was also a barn burner with Butcher Construction victorious over Admiral Risty 19-18. Matt Campbell had a 5 hit day (3 rbi’s), Wayne Galer (2 rbi’s), Mike Costa (double) and Adam Garcia all with 4 hits. Gary Bemis (3 rbi’s), Tony Luca (double and 2 rbi’s) and Howard Miller all with 3 hits. Alan Kiser (2 rbi’s), Clay Collins (2 rbi’s), Jim Stevens and Sam Barr each with 2 hits for the Whalers. Every Risty batter had a least 1 hit in the contest. No Report from Butcher Construction as yet.
