(White Manager) The first game today saw the last place White Team defeat the first place Green Team with a decisive score of 15-1. The first inning saw the White Team outfield make some very good catches of Green drives, especially, Bill Louie in RF making a nice running catch of a hard liner off the bat of Paul Sigal. Throughout the game, the outfield made more running catches, especially, Robert Kurz in RCF. The infield fielded nearly every hard grounder within reach, especially Eric Ishibashi at third, Jon Chapman at Rover and John Spielman at 2nd. John Spielman ran a long way to grab a grounder that seemed out of reach and threw out the batter. He also caught a hard grounder to initiate a double play with Jon Chapman taking the toss at 2nd and throwing an accurate bullet to first to get the batter. Steve Kriendel also initiated a double play with a toss to Jon who again made a bullet throw to first to get the batter. The only serious mistake in today’s game was made by the catcher, Lester Ostroy, who failed to cover home while Hugo Furth stealthly ran home with Green’s only run with Jon Chapman throwing the ball home was perfect but Lester was off the plate. Jon Chapman was 4/4 with a triple, a double and two singles and scored 4 runs, John Spielman was 3/3 with a double, Lester Ostroy was also 3/3 and scored one run, Keith Crafton was 3/4 and scored 2 runs, Ed Lambert was 2/3 with a double and scored 2 runs, Eric Ishibashi was 2/3 and scored one run, Robert Kurtz was 2/4 with a double and scored one run, Steve Kriendel was 2/4 with a double and scored a run. Last but not least Pitcher Bart Mills only giving up one run. He only walked one batter twice and got out of several innings with less than ten pitches, only throwing four in the first inning.(Green Manager) When you lose 15 – 1 there aren’t many highlights today but Ken Sackman was 2 for 3.
In the 2nd game today the Blue Team beat the Grey Team by 1 run 16-15.
