Today’s 1st game was won by the Red Team over the Blue Team 15-11. No Report from either team.
(White Manager) The second game today was a close fought contest tied at the end of the 6th inning with time run out. The umpire allowed the game to continue and the Grey’s cashed in, scoring 2 in the top of the 7th while White failed to score in their half. The final score 16-14. Grey. The game started out with Grey hitting well and taking a 10-1 lead after top of the third inning. White countered with excellent fielding and making few errors. Ed Lambert caught a hard long liner hit by Joe Rassulo to left field making an excellent running catch. Eric Ishibashi made many plays fielding grounders at 3rd base and making outs at 2nd and first. Steve Kriendel made several plays on grounders at shortstop. Robert Kurtz made some hard running catches in RCF, John Spielman made a miraculous catch of a hard liner at rover and threw to first to double off the runner. Bart Mills pitched an excellent game with few walks. White had many opportunities to score more runs but several batters hit harmless popups with runners in scoring position. Dennis Groat was 4/4 with 3 singles and a walk and scored once, Bill Louie was 3/4 and scored once, Bart Mills was 3/4 with a double and two walks and scored once, Robert Kurtz was 3/4 with a double, a single and a walk and scored 3 times, Roger Davidheiser was 3/4 with 2 singles and a walk, Steve Kriendel was 3/4 and scored twice, and Hugo Furth was 3/5 and scored once.
(Grey Team Manager) The 2nd game, 14 July 26 was against the Grey vs White team. In this game, it has been a long time coming, with a team effort both on defense and offense the Grey team beat the White team 16 – 14. The Grey team scored in every inning. The White team not to be outdone chipped away at the lead and in fact, tied the score in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Grey team scored two more runs in the top half of the 7th. Then it was the White team last chance at bat. Anne Kepple, the pitcher for the Grey team got the White batters to fly out and end the losing streak for the Grey team. Grey 16, White 14.
