Today’s 1st game was a shortened game, as a result of the mercy rule, the Kettle beat the Hangar Inn by a score of 26-2. Kettle’s defense turned four double plays holding Hangar to single runs in the 3rd and 5th innings. Meanwhile, Kettle bats were on fire, scoring the five run maximum in 4 out of their six at bats. Perfect 4 for 4’s for Howard Thompson, Keith Crafton, Gary Frueholz and Bill Matson. 3 hits each for Chuck Berez, Jon Chapman, Carlos Arias, Steve Kreindel, Bill Katz and Mike Abeles. Hangar Inn’s Audie Freeman led his team with 3 hits, Kelly Kahl added 2 hits and Brian Heffernan, Hugh John McDonald, Joe Rassulo, Ron Rotstein, Dwayne Kingsby, Ken Widelitz, Derek Loughran and Ed Lambert all had 1 hit each.

The 2nd game between the 1st and 2nd place teams Admiral Risty and Butcher Construction ended in a close win for Risty 20-18. The score after 6 innings saw Risty up 11-7 but Butcher scored 5 in their 7th to push Risty’s lead to 16-12. In the 8th inning Risty picked up 4 runs to increase their lead to 20-12 but Butcher batters could only come up with 6 runs in their last at bat to lose the game by 2 runs. Pitcher Wayne Galer led the Whalers with 5/5 day (3 rbi’s) while Alan Kiser (4 rbi’s) and Jim Stevens (2 rbi’s) both had 4 hits for the game. Short Stop Gary Bemis added 3 hits as did Clay Collins (dbl). Tony Luca, Rick Mansker, Mike Costa, Richard Ecker and Sam Barr all had 2 hits on the day. No Report from Butcher Construction.
