The Championship game for the Tuesday Parity League was very closely fought with the score 11-9 White after 6 innings. White broke open the scoring with 6 runs in the top of the 7th. Grey countered with 3 in the bottom of the 7th and came up short.
The White team collected 3 home runs in the game by Ward Brown, Dennis Groat and Glenn Honda. This is notable as the team only had one home run over the previous 21 games. White were missing Steve Kreindel but David Inouye playing as his substitute played exceptionally well. He fielded a large number of hard hit grounders at third and also caught 2 hard hit line drives by the Grey offense. The infield made every out against Grey with the outfield making no catches in this game. Glenn Honda came in to pitch in the 5th inning allowing only 4 runs to the end of the game. In addition to the home runs, Ward Brown was 5/5, Steve Nicholson was 4/4 as was Rebecca Singer, Roger Davidheiser was 3/4, Hugo Furth was 2/4 with a double as was David Inouye, Lincoln Chung was 2/4 as was Anne Kepple, Dennis Groat, and Glen Honda. One unusual happening was Grey team issuing 3 intentional walks to Ward Brown, twice with the bases loaded. This is the 2nd time in the Parity League history that the Last Place Team in the regular season schedule has won the Championship Playoff. Congratulations to the White Team!
