(White Manager)The first game on Tuesday saw the undefeated Blues beat the last place Whites, 11-6. The Blue team got 5 runs in the first inning and played White to a draw 6-6 for the rest of the game. The White team made some nice plays. Ward Brown threw out a runner attempting to get to third from first on a single. Lincoln Chung grabbed several hot grounders, Roger Davidheiser scooped up some throws in the dirt and Jon Chaykowski caught a tough pop up and and later a hot bouncer for outs. White’s hitting stars were Dennis Groat and Rebecca Singer, both 3/3, Ward Brown was 2/3 with a double, Glenn Honda was 2/3, Anne Kepple was 2/3. No Report from Blue Team.
In the 2nd Game the Grey Team edged out the Green Team by the score of 15-14. (Green Manager) Sub Rebecca Singer’s full out running catch of Jon Chapman’s deep drive to left center was of ESPN highlight proportions. Sub David Inouye went 4 for 5, Sub Tony Luca was 4 for 4. Sub Joe Rassulo, Alan Sperling and Ed Lambert added 3 hits each. (Grey Manager) In the 1st the Grey scored 3 while the Green team scored 2 runs. The score was close until the 4th inning the Green Team opened up with 9 runs. Score 5-11 Green team. In the top of the 6th and 7th innings the Grey team scored a total of 10 runs. The Green in the bottom of the 7th with the tying run and go ahead on third and first but a defensive play by Ernie Rounsefel shut down the inning. Final score 15-14 Grey team. 6 players went 3-4, Sam Barr (2 2b, 3 rbi’s), Mike Jenkins, Glenn Honda, 3 rbi’s each, Steve Daly, Mauro (2 rbi’s), John Ricci and Bill Stirton (1 rbi) each.
