2025 WEEK 13 THURSDAY HIGHLIGHTS

The 1st game today was won by Admiral Risty by the score of 18-15 over the Jets. The final score was not indicative of how both teams played during their 9 innings of play. Starting from the 1st inning the short handed Jets led the Whalers by 8 runs through 5 full innings of play 12-4 and still had that same 8 run lead after 7 innings 15-7. Risty then scored 3 runs in their 8th while the Jets cooled down and posted a zero in their half inning, score now 15-10. Risty, in their last chance top of the 9th, was able to come up with 8 more runs to miraculously stave off their 1st loss of the season producing 10 hits to hold on to a 18-10 win as the Jets didn’t score to end the game. Admiral Risty’s 31 hits were provided by Tony Luca, Alan Kiser (3 dbls 2 rbi’s) and Rick Mansker (dbl w/5 rbi’s) all with 4 hits each. Wayne Galer and Sam Barr each with 3 hits, While Rob Staal (3 rbi’s), Richard Ecker (2 rbi’s), Clay Collins, Jim Stevens, Wayne Judah and Gary Bemis (2 rbi’s) all contributed 2 hits each. Mike Costa also added (homerun 2 rbi’s). The Jets missing Ward Brown, Mike Baker, Mike Barnett and Dana Goller were still formidable in this game. The Jets batters accumulated 30 hits in the game led by Dario Serna (triple) and Steve Kato both with 4 hits each. Joe LaMay, Robert Hernandez (double), Doug Bagley (triple) and Andy Shelby all added 3 hits each while Bob Julius, Bryan White, Ken King, Karl Primm and Doug Freeman contruibuted 2 hits each. Kudos to the Jets today for a well played game as they had the Whalers on the brink of defeat.

The 2nd game today had the Kettle victorious over Shellback Tavern 22-17. Shellback started fast with a 5 in their 1st inning and led 8-6 after the 3rd inning. The Kettle caught and passed Shellback to take the lead 11-9 in the 4th. The remaining innings saw the Kettle add 11 more runs to Shellback’s 8 runs. Ken Sackman and Harold Kingsly both had 4 hits in the game for Shellbacks. Hugh john, Derek Loughran, Jon Chaykowski, Ken Widelitz and sub Rob Staal all had 2 hit each. No Report from Kettle.
