(Grey Manager) In today’s game with the Red and Grey teams, the Red team scored the first 3 runs and in the bottom half of the inning, the Grey Team put up 4 runs. After the 6th inning, there was some good hitting and outstanding defense played by both teams. The score then was Red 12 Grey 15. In the 7th inning, the Red Team was able to get 5 runs across and go ahead by 2 runs. In the same inning Steve Fiske, Glenn Honda, and Lee Messenger were able to load the bases then Steve Daly had a bases-clearing double and the Grey Team had another victory Final Score Red 17, Grey 18. For the Grey Team Sam Barr 4-4 (double 2 rbi’s), Jon Chapman (2 rbi’s), Mike Cross (2 rbi’s), Mike Jenkins (2 rbi’s), sub Steve Fiske, sub Glenh Honda (3 rbi’s), sub Ernie Rousefell and Hal Joyce (2 rbi’s) all with 3 hits. Steve Daly double 3 rbi’s) and Mauro Pendilla both with 2 hits. (Red Manager) The Red Team was led by Howard Thompson 4 hits, David Inouye, Gary Neiman, Ed Lambert, Ross Bickerton and Bart Mills all with 3 hits today.
Today’s final game between the White and Green Teams saw White victorious 17-9. (White Manager) The White team was a bit shaky in the first inning scoring zero and allowing 3 runs by the Greens. However, White scored five in the second and Green scored 2 to tie the score at 5-5. For several innings, the White infield was superb making many plays, especially Lincoln Chung at rover and one great stab and throw to first by Steven Kriendel at 3rd base. In the last of the seventh, Glen Honda made a terrific running catch of a long drive by David Inoue to end the game, White 17, Green 9. The star hitters for White were Steve Kriendel who was 4/4 (double), Jon Chaykowski and Doug Bagley who were 3 for 4 with each getting a triple, Hugo Furth who was 3/3 )double), Anne Kepple, Glen Honda, and Lester Ostroy each had three singles. The whole team contributed to scoring with every hitter having at least one run scored or one rbi. (Green Manager) Green jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead after the 1st, but the defense fell apart in the 2nd & 3rd innings, leading to a deficit that could not be overcome. Subs David Inouye and Joe Rassulo each had 2 hits, along with Alan Sperling, Greer Wasson, Earl Reason and Joe Tannerbauer. Karl Primm added a triple.
