The 1st game today BrokButcher vs. Shellback Tavern was played very close for most of the game with the Butchers winning 21-11. The game was close after 7 full innings with the Butchers leading 12-9 when they went on a scoring binge adding 9 runs in the last 2 innings of the game while the Tavern could only muster 2 more runs to end the game. Shellback was led by Joe Rasullo, Ken Widelitz, Jon Chaykowski, Ed Lambert and sub Howard Miller all with 3 hits each. Harold Kingsly, Bill Louie and Bart Mills each had 2 hits for the Tavern. In the 2nd game, on a day when Admiral Risty’s team batting average ended up .770 which was produced by a 37 hit onslaught and holding the Kettle to only 2 runs for the game. The Whalers had an outstanding and was led by Wayne Galer, Alan Kiser (6 rbi’s), Rick Mansker and Mike Costa all with 4 hits each. Tony Luca, Adam Garcia (5 rbi’s), Rich Ecker and Sam Barr all added 3 hits each while Mike Lorden, Howard Miller, Jim Stevens and Wayne Judah all contributed 2 hits each.
