Leading the Whalers were Dave Taylor 5 hits, 2 dbls 3 rbi’s, Tony Luca, Wayne Galer, Richard Ecker who hit for the circuit and added 4 rbi’s, Wayne Judah 4 rbi’s and Jim Stevens all with 4 hits each, Rick Mansker 3 hits and 4 rbi’s. The last game of the day saw the Jets leading the Kettle after 5 full innings by the score of 17-8. The Kettle came up with 7 more runs in the latter innings but the Jets added one more run to finish the game ahead 18-15. Mike Baker and Joe LaMay led the Jets with 4 hits each, Dario Sernas, Bob Julius, Ward Brown, Steve Kato, Andy Shelby, Robert Henandez and Howard Rudich all added 3 hits each in the game. LaMay and Julius both had a 3 base hit with Julius topping the Jet hitters with a home run. The Kettle fell behind 10-0, 12-2, and 17-5, but mounted a comeback over the last 4 innings falling short to the Jets needing 3 runs in their last at bat just for a tie. Jon Chapman led the way going 4 for 4, hitting for the cycle. Keith Crafton was also 4 for 4 and Ernie Rounsfell was 3 for 3 with a walk.
