Today’s first game of the day had the First Place Admiral Risty and the Second Place BrokButcher Realty playing their 4th time this season with Risty posting a 15 game winning streak without a defeat and hoping to increase their lead in the 2024 season. The Butcher Boys had other ideas and led 13-6 after 7 full innings of play. The Whalers added 1 run in their bottom 8th but the Butchers answered with 5 runs in the 9 to lead 18-7. In the bottom of the 9th inning Risty tallied 10 runs with 8 singles, a double, a triple and a sacrifice fly only to come up short 1 run to tie the Butchers to fall 18-17. The Whalers were led by Mike Costa with 5 hits, with Gary Bemis, Tony Luca, Wayne Galer, Mike Lorden, Rick Mansker, Clay Collins and Wayne Judah all with 3 hits each in the game. The later game today played by the 3rd Place Jets and 4th Place Kettle saw the Jets take a 12-3 lead after 6 full innings then added another run in the 7th while the Kettle added 2 more runs in their 7 and 9th inning posting a final score of 13-7. The Jets were led by Joe Owens and Joe LaMay each with 4 hits on the day, with Dana Goller and Andy Shelby adding 3 hits each. Lincoln Chung, Mike Baker, Robert Hernanadez, Mike Barnett and Howard Rudich all added 2 hits today for the Jets. The Jets have been much more competitive since the arrival of pitcher Dana Goller after the loss of injured pitcher Doug Freeman. No Report from the Kettle as yet.
