The Kettle cruised to a victory over the newly named Shellback Tavern by the score of 15-4. The Kettle turned 4 double plays which helped hold the Shellbacks to only 4 runs. Pitcher Ernie Rounsefel held them in check while issuing no walks to the Shellback hitters. Jon Chapman again led the way going 4 for 4. Three hits each for Howard Thompson, Keith Crafton, Gary Frueholz and Hal Hammersmith. The Shellback hitters Jeff Walsh, Audie Freeman and Joe Rasullo each had 3 hit while Jason Banner added 2 hits in the game.
The 2nd game between the Jets and Admiral Risty was a tale of two stories with the Jets banging out 11 runs in the first 5 innings and the Whalers only gathering 3 runs with the Jets leading then 11-3 but the Jets did not score in the last 4 innings of play while Risty collected 10 runs in their last 3 innings resulting in a 13-11 win for the Whalers. The Jets Steve Kato was 4 for 4, Ward Brown, Robert Hernandez and Bryan White all with 3 hits, Joe Owens, Joe LaMay, Mike Baker, Dana Goller(triple) each had 2 hits in the contest. Admiral Risty batted 28 for 44 a .636 clip and were led by Pitcher Wayne Galer’s 4 hit, with Tony Luca, Mike Lorden, Alan Kiser, Dave Taylor, Clay Collins and Wayne Judah all had 3 hits on the day. Rick Mansker and Richard Ecker both added 2 hits each.
