In the 1st game the Kettle having a comfortable lead of 15-2 after 7 innings, the Kettle was brought back to reality as the Grunions scored 4 runs in the 8th inning and another 9 runs in the 9th inning to tie the score. The Kettle managed to eke out one run in the bottom of the 9th for their win. Leading the Kettle was Doug Westhoff with 5 hits. Jon Chapman had 4 hits and Keith Crafton, Carlos Arias and Hal Hammersmith all had 3 hits apiece. The Grunions started hitting at the end of the game with Hugh Jason Banner, John McDonald and Ron Rotstein all with 4 hits. Jason with a double and a triple, Hugh John a double. David Inouye with 3 hits, Dwayne Kingsby, Joe Rasullo, Bill Louie, Ken Sackman, Bart Mills and Audie Freeman all with 2 hits. Final Score Grunions 15 Kettle 16.

The 2nd game today between the league leading Admiral Risty Whalers and the 3rd Place Jets resulted in a 28-15 win for the Whalers. Risty’s Gary Bemis, Michael Costs, Adam Garcia, Wayne Judah and Jim Stevens each had 4 hits today. Richard Ecker had 3 hits while Wayne Galer, Alan Kiser, Rick Mansker, Clay Collins and Sam Barr all had 2 hits each. Mike Costa and Adam Garcia both had 5 rbi’s while Jim Stevens created 4 rbi’s. Gary Bemis and Alan Kiser each 3 rbi’s and 2 rbi’s for Mike Lorden, Rick Mansker and Sam Barr. The Jets hitters were present too with Joe Owens 5 hits with 2 doubles, Steve Kato 4 hits, Joe LaMay, Lincoln Chung and Karl Primm all with 3 hits, Ward Brown with a double, Bryan White, Dough Bagley and Andy Shelby all with 2 hits on the day. Unfortunately the Jets were without 4 other starters Mike Baker, Robert Hernandez, Bob Julius and Dario Sernas for this competition.
