Summer is finally here at the beach and today the 1st game was with the Kettle and Admiral Risty teams with Risty victorious by the score 21-6. Defense was the key to Risty’s win as 3rd baseman Rick Mansker kept the Kettle bats at bay making numerous plays at the hot corner. Admiral Risty kept the Kettle from scoring in 6 of the 8 innings played resulting in the Kettlers low score. Leading the Whalers was their bottom of the lineup with Clay Collins, Howard Miller and Sam Barr all having 3 hits on the day. Mike Lorden, Rick Mansker, Dave Taylor and Mike Costa all with 2 hits The leaders in the rbi column was Barr and Adam Garcia’s 5 rbi’s, Taylor and Manskerboth with 4 rbi’s. In a closely fought game between BrokButcher and Grunions all their efforts ended in a tie game 14-14. Hugh John McDonald and Ron Rotstein had 4 hits, Jeff Walsh, Jason Banner and Ken Widelitz all had 3 hits in the game and Ken Sackman, Bart Mills and Derek Loughran all added 2 hits for the team.
