The battle between the 1st Place and 2nd Place teams, Admiral Risty and BrokButcher Realty, started out fast with the Butcher boys putting up a quick 5 runs in their first inning. Risty came back with 5 of their own and contained the heavy hitting Butchers to 4 more runs while blanking them in 6 of the 9 innings played. Led by Gary Bemis, Wayne Galer, Alan Kiser and Rick Mansker all having a 4 hit day. Not far behind were Tony Luca, David Taylor, Mike Costa and Clay Collins all with 3 hits in the game, while Mike Lorden and Jim Stevens each had 2 hits. The running game didn’t hurt the Risty either with Bemis, Costa, Adam Garcia, Collins, Howard Miller and Stevens churning the base paths today. Final Score Admiral Risty 21-9. The second contest between the 3rd and 4th Place teams, Jets and Kettle saw the Kettle taking the win 19-7. The Kettle took advantage of 6 base on balls plus 26 hits in their 7 at bats for an on base percentage of .680. Leading the way for the Kettlers was Carlos Arias going 4 for 4 including a home run and 4 RBIs. Also with 4 hits were Jon Chapman and Howard Thompson. Two hits each for Gary Frueholz, Doug Westhoff, Mike Abeles, Ernie Rounsefel, Bill Matson and Warren Galloway. The normally powerful hitting Jets only mustered a .389 team batting average today compiling only 14 hits in the game. Today’s Jets hitters were led by Bob Julius, Ward Brown, Joe LaMay and Mike Barnett, all with 2 hits. Ward with a homerun and Barnett a triple base hit.
